‘’And now, my brothers and sisters, be filled with joy in the Lord. It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again. I want to be sure that you are prepared.’’ [Philippians 3:1 ERV]
As Paul said in the scripture above, reminders help prepare us.
At first, God gave the revelation of his Word and Voice as pre-existing all creation and as his mode of interaction, creation, and relationship even from the Garden of Eden. The purpose of this is to understand that when we say that Jesus is the foundation of our faith, we mean that God's word/utterances (voice) is the foundation of our trusting relationship. He has been from the beginning.
‘’And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth.’’ John 1:14 NIV
The scriptures contain the words of YHWH and Jesus is the word of YHWH become flesh: they are the same in essence. The words of YHWH are spirit.
On Jan 10, 2022, I wrote: Jesus is coming for his own soon. The trumpet will sound but that trumpet will be heard just as a loud noise by many. However, to those acquainted with Christ, it will be heard distinctly as the voice of God in our spirits calling his children to gather up to him. How can decayed flesh hear? Will you recognise his voice? Do your friends, family or church group recognise his voice? Is Jesus known intimately enough to display him? Or to discern his voice when he speaks?
In John 10:26-28, he said ‘’My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.’’
Jesus is the voice of the scriptures i.e., the voice/word of God. To understand God through the scriptures is to know his voice. All this is possible by his Holy Spirit that comes to live in us when we accept the sacrifice and lordship of Jesus.
Verse 29's ‘’ but you do not believe because you are not my sheep,’’ shows that the sheep are those who have believed in the Messiah Jesus. It is therefore imperative that a relationship with the Father (YHWH) through Jesus the Messiah by their Holy Spirit be a priority.
Micah4 says:
‘’In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established
as the highest of the mountains;
it will be exalted above the hills,
and peoples will stream to it.
Many nations will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the temple of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
so that we may walk in his paths.”
The law will go out from Zion,
the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.’’
This remains YHWH's will for his Church. The scribes and teachers are still indispensable. The ones sent by Jesus are characterised by their submission to his word and dependence on his Holy Spirit.
The heart of the Father's cry right now is primarily for those who do not know him. I have been very burdened for souls. because this is the season for the harvest. Do join in the work by praying and telling someone about Jesus. You don't have to be eloquent or perfect ... just truthful.
''But you, remain steady in every situation, endure suffering, do the work that a proclaimer of the Good News should, and do everything your service to God requires.''2 Timothy 4:5
''So then, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us, too, put aside every impediment — that is, the sin which easily hampers our forward movement — and keep running with endurance in the contest set before us,'' Hebrews 12:1
''Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.''1 Corinthians 9:24
